Items that are required or recommended for driving in most European countries
Many European countries now require at least one reflective vest to be carried in all vehicles at all times in case of breakdowns or emergencies.
Drivers are required to warn other road users in case of breakdowns or accidents. Hazard warning lights are not sufficient.
These are required by law in order for the vehicle to be fit for use and are necessary day or night (e.g rain, fog, tunnels) to avoid dazzling other road users.
These should be carried in all vehicles because every driver is required to stop and provide assistance in case of accident by the European Good Samaritan Law.
Drivers are legally required to display country of registration on the rear of their vehicle (including caravans and trailers).
Lights must always be in full working order so a spare bulb kit is required to maintain them.
We understand that on the spot fines are between 80-135 Euros per item missing. Please note that rules vary by country and from time to time and this information is for guidance only.
